Platinum, a Rare Metal.

Platinum is a special metal. It does not fade or tarnish and it does not corrode. In fact, it is so lasting, platinum was used to make the standard kilogram weight. Platinum is eternal. Diamonds are eternal. That is one of the reasons why diamonds and platinum are the perfect match.

Platinum wearers don't have to worry about jewelry rash. Platinum is 95% pure. Platinum is hypoallergenic, so the best way to deal with a jewelry rash is to switch to platinum. The problem with platinum is that it is so rare. It is 35 times rarer than gold. There is so little platinum on earth, yet its uses are so wide. Because platinum is compatible with the human body, platinum is used in medicine, to make pace makers, for example. Platinum is also a catalyst and is essential in many chemical processes.

Due to its rarity, platinum is an excellent precious metal to invest in. Anything that is so rare and has so many uses would appreciate in price, with time, which makes platinum jewelry a wise investment.

Tips on Cleaning Sterling Silver Naturally

  • The Baking Soda Method:
  1. Make a paste with baking soda and water.

  2. Add a few drops of peppermint or spearmint essential oil.

  3. Mix together and rub silver with the paste.

  4. Make sue you wash your hands well when finished.

  • Toothpaste Method
  1. Squeeze toothpaste on a cloth or sponge and gently rub on silver.

  2. You can also use your finger to scrub areas that are more tarnished.

  • The Salt Method
  1. Line the bottom of a pan with aluminum foil with the shiny side up. Heavy-duty foil works best. If your aluminum foil is thin, place a double layer in the pan.

  2. Place the tarnished silver on the foil.

  3. Add 1/2 cup of salt to a pitcher of hot water and stir to dissolve the salt.

  4. Add 1 1/2 cups of baking soda and let dissolve completely.

  5. Pour the salt and baking soda over the silver and let set until water cools and the aluminum foil turns dark.

  6. Remove the silver and rinse away any salt residue with cool water.

  7. Dry with a soft cloth and polish to shine.

Safety of Buying Diamonds Online

Is it Safe to Buy Diamonds Online?

Although it may seem like a risky venture, buying over the Internet can be a very safe way to buy the most beautifully cut diamonds at the best prices.

Pros

Selection - By shopping online, you can find the best-cut (most beautiful) diamonds. This is because many Internet vendors list entire wholesaler inventories, whereas most stores that buy diamonds to have in stock can only buy so many and may not have the knowledge or desire to stock the best-cut diamonds.

Prices - The Internet prices are highly competitive because of lower operation cost for some and many dealers are competing to sell the very same diamonds. (There are some Internet or brick and click vendors who maintain their own inventory).

Flexibility - One benefit of Internet shopping is the ability to have diamonds shipped to you where you can view them in the lighting conditions where they will be worn. Consumers can also take a diamond shipped to them to a local jeweler to make comparisons.

Cons

Uncertainty - How can I be sure that I'll get what I'm paying for?

Lack of trust - How do I know whether the vendor whom I've never met will provide what he promised?

Doubts - How can I be sure that I’ll be able to get my money back if I am not satisfied?

To take advantage of the pros and avoid the cons we suggest you to consider these simple rules of common sense:

  • Educate Yourself
  • Compare Prices
  • Check Vendors
  • Get Independent Appraising
